The Press is dying?
New York Review of Books has an intriguing two part article on the news media. And it’s decline. There are a bunch of interesting ideas in here, especially related to liberal bias (or lack thereof) and what may happen to the news media in this age where physical papers are pretty pointless. At least to me. I’m happy to read something online though.

Do you guys get the New York Review? I subscribed for a year, but then let my subscription lapse as the quality seemed to be trailing off significantly.

hey, you know what be cool? if, in addition to the author & time of a comment, you got to see what rabbit name the commentor typed in during submission!

I’ve been thinking of capturing the fury/frost information for a couple of months and then displaying which rabbit is everyone’s favorite.

I think we’re suffering from too much capitalism. You could call it “hypercapitalism”. Nothing wrong with money. But optimizing everything in the world for shareholder value is bad. The press is a good example.

With the “hypercapitalism” thing, it just seems like certain things have to be socialized in order for the bigger picture to work right. Something I like to think about (because I am a nerd) is this: Right now, parking spaces on the street are socialized. What would happen if all street parking spaces were privatised?! In other words, instead of all parking spaces being owned by the municipality, what if they were just sold to the highest bidder?
