Going Retro

The new box for Mega Man 9, which doesn’t even require a box since it’s a download.

And this is the original box from 1987.

This is such a nice little marketing stunt, making a game in 2008 that’s virtually the same technology as one from 1987.

The only thing I worry about is are the 30-year-old gamers who remember Mega Man 1/2 still good/patient enough to beat it?

Also the original “game pak” used 1 mega bit (128KB) of memory! WTF!!

Feed the rabbits

Monday, July 7th, 2008

We’ve been playing this game called Okami. The game is a lot like a Zelda game except you spend a lot of time feeding rabbits packets of seeds to earn their love.

Clearly this is up our alley.

Dark Castle

Dark Castle was very fun. It had great sounds and animations.

Ok, so I think I have you totally stumped here. What game is this?

There’s only one more screenshot left, coming tomorrow. So if you’re sick of this, it’s almost over. Also, let me apologize that today’s screen is in color — at least its early 256 color and awesomely vector-generated to save space.

Mim blogged about our Chez Panisse / 4 Player Bongo evening already, but here’s the Donkey Konga footage. She even took photos of my meal. Chez Panisse, they really respect the Vegetable. Fantastic!

This concludes our week in film clips. Ok fine, we have one more in the queue and one more in pre-production, so there may be a second week.
